So ... IF my birding friend here was right, and IF I have interpreted and recalled what he told me correctly, and IF I am reading this image correctly in terms of what he said, then ... this would be a young Great Black-backed Gull. That's on the basis the young GBBs have more contrasting...
Another shot from the fight over the big fish. This immature great black-backed gull literally jumped on the cormorants back but didnt manage to steal this fish. At the end, one of the cormorants finally managed to swallow the entire big fish and peace returned on the water.
The other side of the houses from where I took the picture of the wagtail, was a wharf accessed by a board walk.
This gull was making the most of the remaining sunlight (it was 9.30 now) and was keeping guard on this boat by the looks of it.
We'd had a lovely dinner and it was now time to head...
After lunch we meandered our way across more bridges and causeways right to the top of the chain of islands to Vieholmen.
I lost track of Ann for a while, so rather than risk getting lost in this tiny village, it was a great excuse to have a cuppie at a sweet wee cafe (delicious home made cakes...
Also from the ferry port were these two guys sitting on a rock just off shore.
Thanks to the ID forum, I got the Herring Gull aged as a 3rd Calendar Year, which is so nice to know.
