What a great name for a bird - like somrthing out of a children's scary story. This was along the New River, Belize, between Lamanai and Orange Walk. Distinguished from Common Black Hawk by short primaries, gray lores, white streaks on thighs, rump pattern.
A subadult bird which tolerated a slow & quiet approach.
