He was just launching into his display as I took this photo. There was no female around but that didn't deter him from running around his bower with his wings displayed!
At lunchtime in the picnic area at Katherine gorge, this bird revealed his amazing crest. He seems to open it up when he chooses, and keeps it completely hidden most of the time.
Further to my post on the Great Bowerbird building his bower in my garden. Here is a picture of the bird in question.
Notice the pebble he has pinched from our patio!
