great cormorants

I suppose this one could have been an SF shot too, if I'd been able to come up with a good caption or "conversation".

Another shot from my last field trip, to Bough Beech in April. I'm hoping to go again this year (depends on when my brother can take me) but now isn't the best time, better to wait a few weeks in hope of migrants. (EXIF shows this was taken with the lens wide open at 1/4000th second. Doh...

I hope it's obvious that the bird on the far left is speaking! The artificial island is one of several provided by the Kent Wildlife Trust. Thank you for your kind comments on my pictures, and good birding! John

With around 11,000 cormorants back at Mai Po for the winter you can't go anywhere without seeing them resting in trees. They are very noisy too. Neil

there were 7 in the group that flew over my head just after sunrise last week but I couldn't get them all in the frame.
