Great Spotted Woodpeckers
It was nice to get two in the same frame. We had a great time in Dalarna though we didn't see many birds. And when we got home yesterday evening we found that the birds have deserted the garden. I fed and watered them today but very few showed up for the feast.- Macswede

Juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker
We have had at least two families pf Great Spotted Woodpeckers in the garden. They are very noisy birds and seldom remain in one place for long. I'm very glad to have them though. This one was silent at least when I took the picture but was more active than it looks.- Macswede

We have at least three pairs of woodpeckers visiting the garden and they fight a lot, though they've quietened down a bit now. I was trying to photograph them flying towards each other but this was the closest I got. It did make me smile though.- Macswede

Off to Croatia very early tomorrow morning but I'm off work today so I thought I'd post a couple of pictures on Bird Forum before packing.
