That day must have been just above freezing. Some of the snow and ice on the crabapple shrub melted into water droplets on the remaining berries, which this Great Tit then turned into a drinking fountain.
I spotted this Great Tit in the woods, trying to hide from me, he just popped his head out far enough for me to get a shot at it.

The snow has virtually all gone this morning, just some of the deeper lying patches. For once we have clear blue skies and bright sunshine!!!

.... to get these three species together at a feeder. Don't remember ever seeing that before.
OK maybe not the best technically but there was an awful lot of quick movements, with constant comings and goings at the feeding station at Loch of the Lowes.

LOL couldn't resist that title, as it didn't occur in all the similar pictures and I don't know how it happens (something technical no doubt!!)
The next visitor I spotted at the feeders was this Great Tit.... not a species I see much of when I'm at home.

The suet cone was great for photos for a few days ... while we had sunshine, and before the magpies ate all the suet. This was after it had hung there for just 24 hours, and already you can tell there's a lot been eaten.
When the sun was bright on the feeder area, I tried some different f-stop settings. Some blacked out the background, others gave me this autumnal bokeh.
Then I found that I could stand quite close to the feeders if I stood by the woodpile at the shed corner. The birds are getting quite bold about our being around there, so they didn't seem to mind.
This guy flew in clumsily in the bush carrying this walnut shell. I don't know what he thought to use it for, no nut inside and was very curious. But he just flitted a bit around, then dropped it on the ground and flew away.
The series I started on yesterday and will be posting from for a week or so is from the day I discovered that some birding friends had hung up a slew of feeders in the back woods of the botanical garden. It was also a sunny day, and not too cold or windy either, so one of my better days in terms...
