Do I recall correctly that Delia mentioned seeing a pale-breasted Great Tit and wondering what the lack of breast color was about? I also noticed one of mine around that time that was more off-white than yellow-breasted. Did anyone have an explanation?
Another rushed shot of a rare Great Tit opportunity.
Although this one did stay a little longer than usual, so there must have been some bits that he appreciated.
So a record shot that didn't turn out too badly I though.

Oh and yesterday's picture was a Goldeneye... so no prizes
..... or Close!!
Many of you will know the battles I've had trying to get a picture of the Great Tit.
Well this was one of the results. Thought I'd got him sitting on top of the coconut shell, but as soon as I clicked....
He's back again this morning, not seen him for a couple of weeks.
The Great Tit continued his games with me - in out, in out in the blink of an eye!!
Eventually I decided not to zoom in to make it quicker to find him and get the focus. He landed on all the different feeders, and there I was trying to type with the camera hanging round my neck waiting for him...
...... or He's not kind to me
The Great Tit returned (again, and again and again.... ) and this was a very rushed attempt to try for a picture.
Had the camera on multi-shot in the hopes of a full facial......
Think he's very camera shy!

This guy sure gave me the run-around! One of my rarer visitors too.
Three long weeks since my previous picture of him and he'd been back every day but as soon as I lifted the camera he was off.
It was to be about another month before I got the next picture, and by that time I realised there...
I'm wondering if this washed-out looking guy is a juvenile?
One of my rarer garden visitors and although I had one or two at the window feeder throughout September, I very rarely managed a picture of one - they never really stopped, just grabbed a seed and were off!!! Very frustrating LOL
So...
Late autumn and winter are great time to see a variety of small birds and observe their behaviour at the feeders. Makes you happy just to know that you are helping a bit for their survival.
..... or Get out of there!!!
If you look very closely you will see another bird at the back of the box. A fresh Great Tit landed and seemed quite affronted to see him in there.

When we returned to the cottage after the day out at the Mull of Galloway reserve, I found a Great Tit sitting waiting for us on the fence there.
So another trip tick.
Obviously the light wasn't the best and I couldn't get a better angle.
