    After a cold evening the night before, this Greater Ani spreads himself out to dry and warm up in the brilliant morning sunshine!

    Bird was a member of a large flock of the species foraging in shrubs along shore of Samiria River at edge of varsea (seasonally flooded) forest near Puesto Vigilante #2 in Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve , upper Amazon drainage, northeastern Peru. The photo was taken from a boat.

    We got very little sun at La Selva, but when it did come out, these immediately took advantage of it to dry out - and in doing so suddenly looked a lot more colourful than usual!
