Going through some old photographs. This Greater Coucal was strutting its stuff and cared not that I was close by.

Not an easy bird to shoot seldom seen out in the open unless in the morning drying itself.

On my neighbour's tree. Seemed scared perhaps after being chased by a crow. A full framer.

Greater Coucal

He was perched on a fencing pole right across the road in front of my house. Shot taken from my door steps in very dull, overcast conditions.

After not seeing any Coucals around the area for months there were two in the water today . A bit close for me with the 500/4

A Crow/ No. A Pheasant? No again. A Crow Pheasant or Greater Coucal is a cuckoo of sorts. It calls 'Kub, Kub, Kub'. Despite their size, silently move through dense undergrowth, occasionally stepping out to forage.
