Found this green heron in spot near old Erie Canal where last year we had a big influx of Green Herons all year. Sometimes there would be 6 or 7 there together. Hope this year is the same.
I have really been enjoying watching these birds. I find their behavior very interesting, the way they hunt...you can see them stand out like a sore thumb one minute, and the next...it's as if they've been sucked into the swamp...dissappearing into the swamp grass...then suddenly they re-emerge...
Another one during our trip to Costa rica of a Green Heron. Took this one from a cano. A bit difficult digiscoping. But during the trip we "lost" half of our equipment,so there was no other way. Still catched up a litlle for the loss of 4 gb of pics the week before.
Stopped at my favorite swamp today and saw not one but TWO of these birds! They were pretty far out from shore, so the pictures aren't the greatest...but I managed to get a few shots.
My first green heron! I was quite excited to spot one. Knew they were tiny but was taken aback when I actually saw one. This little guy refused to move from his position and there were reeds around, so could not get a better angle. Reminded me of the childhood game we used to play...
This bird was sitting about 15' off the ground on a palm frond on my way back to the car. He didn't seem to mind being photographed one bit even after I stopped 4 other walkers who would have gone right under without noticing this special sight.
This adult was sitting about 15' off the ground on a palm frond directly under the estuary path starting off from the El Presidente hotel. I saw it from across the way and was surprised that it didn't fly off. I walked right under where it was sitting and looked at me as I clicked away. I...
I was checking the "Opus" gallery and found that there are lots of images of this species. So, what the heck: what will another hurt. As you are all aware by now, I do post processing ( from this time on simply PP) on nearly all of my images. Preliminary work is done in Adobe Lightroom...
A bird that gave me great pleasure to view a couple of months ago. I haven't heard anything about it lately, so I have no idea if its still there or not???
I have had a couple of requests for more pics of this bird. If anyone wishes to see more, go to my gallery, as this will be the fourteenth shot of this bird I have posted.
This is another full frame shot, (see Green Heron10, posted last night), you can see how used to people this bird is getting. It got so close, that I couldn't get it all in, and had to back off. Its a beautiful looking bird, it has some great markings/patterns on it, and I've enjoyed watching it...
Got one!!!!!This bird was very successful when fishing, and scord a direct hit every time, great to watch. I'm having trouble with the Lappy today, so I'm off out for a walk.
