Early morning sun and this surprise late migrator made for a very pleasant day.

Green herons are very territorial and this guy was not going to allow another heron to take his favorite spot.

I haven't posted in a long time, but I've gotten a new camera, so that is motivating me to get out more. This trip was the last with the old camera.

It was Sunday morning again and I was cleaning the pool at Plaza Resort. Sometimes this green heron sits on the edge of the pool (looking for fish?). When I was coming closer to him he flew away and moved to a nearby tree.

This is the first Green Heron that ever visited the Netherlands. And as you can see the bird gave us a warm welcome.

This Green Heron was photographed at Furman University.

On the same outing with my son, we came accross two night herons about 30ft away from us. Both birds sat for us for 20min or more before moving on. It was great to share that with my boy

Not easy to get a clean BG at this location. The advantage is that the GHs are very approachable.

A heavy crop, but I liked the BG.

I took this while waiting to have my tire fixed at a tire store. Tadpoles helped me get close to this one.

About the sice of a small duck.

I was happy to see this one at my little local pond. Of course he picked a rather messy tree to stand on.

From the size, coloration and peach fuzz feathers atop the head, I'm assuming this one is only a few weeks old.
