There was a freshwater puddle close by the reedbed and all sorts of birds came down to it to drink or bathe ( reed bunting, stonechat, chaffinch, greenfinch and pipit). The pipit was great fun because it was a very very enthusiastic bather . It didn't seem to mind if the finches bathed too but...

Last three posts from Nov 2 now. Tomorrow we move on to a hike I took on Nov 7, and remind me to start with the fun shots!
The Greenfinches, Sparrows and Tits will occasionally nibble on the crabapples, especially on the half-chewed bits the Thrushes and Waxwings leave behind. But they don't seem to like them as much as the Thrushes and Waxwings do.
And I couldn't watch Greenfinches all day in the garden. I was heading out for a walk to the river and had to get moving while the light looked like it might break through. But by the time I reached the falls, the clouds had grown thicker rather than thinner. Harrumpph from me too.
