We only saw the one Grey-headed Woodpecker, and he stayed stubbornly high up on the shade side of his tree. Still, as a documentation shot it works. He is identifiable ... barely.
While shooting more common birds during a darkish December day, this Grey-headed woodpecker landed close to my hide. It is quite a shy bird, so was happy to get this shot.
She visited us just when I have to go to work. I chose taking few pics and drive faster.. The weather was unfortenately dark. This pic is at 1/30 sec shutter speed.
She can stay still a long time in the branches but when she comes to more open space she is very restless, moving all the time...
