I'll have to take you here when you visit, Delia. Janet says she always sees at least one moose when she comes here. It'll be on our way home from looking for bluethroats up on Dovre Mountain.
These three Herons were part of a group of six. The wind was rather bitter and the birds were sheltering with the reeds at their backs. Although the birds were about sixty yards away, my camera held steady in the shelter of the hide and with editing at home I managed to get this picture.

The tide was out in Caernarvon and the Herons were feeding along the sand banks, they did not like there own company. Both pairs flew at each other and the noise was screeching.
Cannot see the head of the Heron at the foot of the pic,but these 2 really were fighting,lots of wing flapping etc,just wish the light could have been a little better
How these huge birds can perch so high and keep their balance is amazing.The slender branch at the top of this tree,was swaying to and fro with the weight of these birds,but they held on regardless.
