I am continually baffled by immature large gulls that were all known as Herring Gulls when I was learning my birds many decades ago. Little or Black headed?
Good morning all. Up visiting the folks at the weekend and spotted these along the shore next to Fort George, Ardersier. It's only now editing the photos I wondered are they Little or Black Headed gulls, adult and youngster? I notice the two younger birds have yellow on the beaks. Thanks all.- Scozmos

Recommended camera for HAWKE ENDURANCE ED 85mm
Hi, I currently digiscope using my Google pix phone with a Hawke endurance 85mm scope with zoom lens. I watch and photograph gulls at some distance and it's only good enough for record shots really. Large Gull Challenge - 50 shades of grey!!
All birds were seen this week in Madrid: The first bird is a 2cy LBBG. The second bird is a 2cy YLG. The third bird has characteristics of a 2cy HG: Heavy bicolored bill, is the lightest of the three, heavy streaking on the head. Comments appreciated.- madbird

Bonaparte's Gulls in Pine Point, Maine, USA
I know they're not that rare but if anyone living near Maine is interested I spotted at least 12 Bonaparte's Gulls around 8:30 at Pine Point Beach, Maine.
