.... close to them sometimes;)
After exploring St Abbs Head we moved down to the village, rather an attractive fishing harbour. Although I've been to the reserve many times, I've never been to the village!
The car was used as a hide for this shot.
Back to St Abbs.
I sat on a bench overlooking Starney Bay while my sister walked along the cliffs. There was a bit going on down there... Cormorant, Eider, a few rafts of auks; I could hear Kittiwake but not see them; then there were some Fulmar and Gannets out to sea - quite a nice sojourn...
Well Peeps,
I will be absent from BF this afternoon, as we have a family funeral to attend, but hopefully catch up with y'all later tonight...This un was taken from our upstairs bathroom window. Its a scene that most people living in the Old Town get from their windows.
Apparently, Herring Gulls have suffered a moderate decline over the past 25 years. Try telling that to the inhabitants of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, where they're something of a nuisance, often gathering around people and sitting on house rooftops in great numbers. These two have a blue hue...
Same gull, same pier. He didn't like me pointing the big lens at him, so he walked further down the pier, away from the sea wall, but still in camera range. Then he gave himself a ruffle and a shake.
We haven't had much of it so far this visit, but it is quite warm when it shines, long as you're out of the wind. This fella was sitting down below the sea wall on a concrete pier.
There was sea mist here all day yesterday, and it was quite cold, but I had a walk along the beach at Rock-A-Nore. Lots of Gulls on the beach, this un posed nicely for me.
This guy looked pretty possessive. I wonder how fast he would've grabbed anything I might have tried to toss in the bin. Maybe before it dropped (but only if it looked edible)?
This herring gull is either into bill piercing or thats the claw of a crab that didnt go willingly down the old gullet sticking out through the base of the bill .. any ideas?
