hooded crow

These birds tend to be seen in twos, sometimes up to half a dozen. But not often close enough for a shot like this.

Catching up at last with my pictures from two weeks in Cyprus. Not a great place for birds but as a fan of all corvids I loved the Hooded Crows. They were just as wary as ours and difficult to get near to.

Old. Not gold. But silver do fine.

The old walled town of Lucca (well worth a visit) is surrounded by the new town. But a large ring of open grass has been left between the two.

Not quite my first glimpse of this great bird this year but the first one to let me get anywhere near to it. It was a semi-tame city dweller.

As I haven't been getting out much lately, I have been looking through some old stuff, to get different species than those I have been posting lately. I have found a few, this uns a Hoodie from our Ireland trip last december.

A day trip to Arran from my week at Ayr was my only chance this year to spot one of these and I just managed it. The pair of birds I spotted flew off within seconds but not until after this shot!

There are many hooded crows in Rome. This picture was taken in a public garden, during Christmas holidays, last december.

Didn't want to be bothered by a crouching sniper. ;);
