    Remembering Fall colours 1

So sorry, folks. I've fallen waaaayyy behind on browsing and posting. It's a combination of watching all the drama unfold in the US, trying to finish sewing my son's Xmas present, baking the Xmas cookies, and going out for some Winter birding ... oh, and sleeping in late, as I tend to do in...

  8. Before social distancing

    Before social distancing

Back when strangers could meet at the communal baths without worrying about households and "bubbles". Well, at least back when birds still could meet, before we learned there was a new bird flu spreading around Europe.
  9. No cover

    No cover

My neighbour got someone in to cut the beech hedge right back.... it looks bald!! No doubt it will grow back, but meantime this lady looks rather confused as to where to get some shelter. TTTW

I'm sure these two were planning some mischief between them. Wonder what though? LOL

    Rain photos 2

Even rainier here, and the sparrow does not look all that happy about the weather. But family in California would have been dancing out in the rain with joy.
  13. Rain shots 1

    Rain shots 1

Back in September, while wildfires still raged in California keeping family members packed ready to evacuate at a moment's notice, my brother asked me to post some rain photos on Facebook. This was one of the ones I took through my feeder view window.

    SF3 - Me neither

An almost equally grumpy (or at least unimpressed) House Sparrow. Have a great and safe weekend, everybody!
  15. A penny for your thoughts, "Mr" House Sparrow

A penny for your thoughts, "Mr" House Sparrow

The House Sparrow is widespread over much of Europe, south to the North of Africa and across into Asia. It is also a resident, in the Scandinavia countries. Over recent years, the House Sparrow population has declined throughout Great Britain, although still widespread and common, farmland...

    Another with Mother

.... and still they came. This time in the beech hedge and mother looking after him. TTTW
  17. A first

    A first

This was the very first time I'd seen an adult bring a youngster to the window feeder... and not just one but there were 3 of them!
  18. First of the fledglings

    First of the fledglings

Mid may and here were the first fledglings I'd seen so far. Two little House Sparrows waiting patiently. The adults were on the ground below getting seeds that I'd thrown out. TTTW
  19. Roadside

    Roadside

Another walk I did took me more into the country than the varying 'round the block' ones. This was along the road towards Dunkeld the hedgerow alongside a field I found this male House Sparrow.
