hummingbird

This one graced me with his presence for a little while.

Just to the left of this plant we have a trellis that this bird has been sitting on top of, staring at me--so long as I don't have a camera. I went in, got it, and for two days, now, I've been trying to catch him on that trellis--this is the closest I've gotten so far, but I'm going to keep...

This male has taken charge of the feeder and perches nearby to discourage any who dare to come close.

North America hummingbird seen in Los Angeles. I was really pleased to have captured my first hummingbird unexpectedly, while visiting friends a few weeks ago. I was quite surprised to come face to face with this little hummingbird, just 2 or 3 meters away!

Finally!!! I got a picture of the Hummer that's been visiting our feeder. This one's very camera shy--lol

BB has a broken beak i found him not moving, i hand fed him egg yolk sugar water he almost immediately recovered so now i supplement his protein intake :)

Rare in North America, I feel blessed to have seen this guy.

We ripped out the ivy from a flower bed and replaced it with some actual flowers hoping to give the resident hummers an alternative to the feeders we have set up around the yard and reduce some of the territorial aggression . Seems to have worked. The photo ops are a very welcome benefit too!

Thanks to MarkVanWyk for taking myself and Moose to all the happening places ( the dump, graveyard, rattlesnake infested parks) and helping me get six lifers(calliope,ruddy duck,swainsons hawk,Clarks nutcracker,Red naped sapsucker ,Wilsons Phalarope)on this trip. Well worth the payment of...

Ruby-throated hummingbird in my front yard.

Haven't seen any at home or work for a week now. Guess they are busy with other things.

Still no females yet.....poor fellow.

First one I have seen this year. I'm happy. I had the better beamer on for long flash shots......but this was close. He just looked at me as if to say howdy.

Usually these little guys are flitting about very quickly but occasionally they sit still.

Usually buzzing around our back door in the bougainvillaea.
