Its common name and specific epithet (which means "large-tailed" ) both refer to the long, deeply forked, somewhat swallow-like tail.
This species can be found mainly in east-central South America and it's the most common hummingbird in urban areas inside its range.
It seems the later in the year the more they find new hiding places to guard the feeders. I think all are gone but two or there. Trying to make the most of the time left.
Can't resist getting more Hummer shots.....they will be soon gone. I'm just trying to let them know Mali will be back to see them next year.
