  1. Sanderling and Sandpiper

    Sanderling and Sandpiper

The left hand bird is a semipalmated sandpiper. And of course, the Sanderling is also a sandpiper.
  2. Whimbrel

  3. Yellow-crowned Night Heron P1250319.jpg

    Yellow-crowned Night Heron P1250319.jpg

The chisel shaped bill is important in identifying this bird. Unfortunately, there is something pale in front of the bill, but with the bird hiding inside the vegetation, that is difficult to avoid.
  4. Semipalmated Sandpiper

    Semipalmated Sandpiper

Standing still for your photo? No way, I am busy getting food (notice its foot).
  5. Semipalmated Plover

    Semipalmated Plover

One of a larger number of birds running the wave zone of the beach.
  6. Spotted Sandpiper

    Spotted Sandpiper

  7. Caspian Tern

    Caspian Tern

Several of these birds flying along. The other bird I have photos of shows the more frequent darker tip of the bill.
  8. Least Terns

    Least Terns

I got the photo series started a little late, but I am fairly certain the little morsel started with the right hand tern and have photo proof it ended up with the left hand bird, who seemed to swallow and then fly off.
  9. Carolina Chickadee

  10. Red-bellied Woodpecker P1250253.jpg

    Red-bellied Woodpecker P1250253.jpg

First time I can remember seeing the golden color caused by the sun converting this species to something much closer to its southern neighbor.
  11. Eastern Cottontail

    Eastern Cottontail

The animal was sitting still as if it thought I had not discovered it.
  12. American Mink

    American Mink

Seen several times at the inner end of the jetty in the east end of the park. In most of my photos it looks more medium brown, but back definitely paler than the head area.
  13. Wilson's Plover

    Wilson's Plover

Unfortunately, this bird did not allow a closer approach which might have removed the distracting weeds in the front.
  14. Wet Paint

    Wet Paint

Painted Bunting male taking a bath, and later getting disturbed by a Brown-headed Cowbird.
