This green iguana, in its orange mating coloration, was climbing a tree as I was passing by, and it paused as it was about to lift itself up to the next branch to watch me. I loved the pose as it looked like he was sitting upright at a table waiting to be served a beer.
At Freedom Park they have these platforms that go out into the ponds. Why this Iguana ventured out there I have no idea, but we were both a little shocked. My 400mm lens was to much for these close quarters.
Growing up to 36", these Baja iguanas tend to take over a woodpecker nest site, usually in a Cardon Cactus. This pair had their location high above the arroyo I was camped in. Not being early risers, every morning about 9AM they would poke their heads out, climb up on the top of the cactus...
