    About time

Usually the male and female show up with an immature. Hadn't seen one for the last couple of weeks and then it appeared.. Seems to be a young male hiding from dad. And where else but he Muscadine Vine
  3. Junior or Junioress

    Junior or Junioress

I'm fairly certain this is a young male that came along with the other two but I can't get a good bead on its throat.
  4. Hiding from Dad

    Hiding from Dad

This occurs every year for the last 11 years I've been keeping track. Mom & Dad arrive with one or two immatures. The male is always chasing the immatures away and the Female then goes after the Male.

    In hiding

In past years the Female was always around to protect the Immature from the adult male. No sign of a female this year and the adult male is unending in his chasing of this immature.

  9. Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

    Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

Usually, well in the last 9 years, the adult male arrives first followed by a female and an immature. This year, no sign of any females but this immature showed up.
  10. You would think....

    You would think....

..my parents would get me down here before the berries dry up.

  12. Getting weirder

    Getting weirder

Now here is the other juvie/immature. Not once in the 7 years I've been here, has more than one juvie/immature arrived with the adults. From another pose of this bird, I do believe it is a female but not 100% sure. Now, I also want to clear up the use of my manual focus. I've had this...
  13. Aha!!

    Aha!!

Now I know why momma Sapsucker has been so belligerent when it came to guarding the feeders. She introduced the little missey yesterday ;)
