the nominate ssp has a glossy black back; this is 'cambaiensis' with a brown back. Both are supposed to have a white wing bar but definitely not showing here. He's got the cocked tail though....

Did not notice when I took this but looks like it has had a lucky escape within its life. Quite a lot missing but seems fine

Followed a pair around for a while hoping for them to keep still for long enough!

A couple of old photos for today. A full frame shot, with no crop. Bad weather for past 10 days here, although there is some indication of sun coming out today. Been a bit under the weather too last few days. So, not much birding for a while now.

This one was hardly 15' away from me & didn't seem too bothered with my presence. In fact she posed nicely for a few shots. Full frame image, not cropped.

Uploading this just for comparison with the male I shared yesterday. I should have put up this one yesterday only perhaps. Not a great shot as it was moving around fast under the shade of a tree.

Off to Mumbai today for a few weeks to visit our daughter. Will try to post whenever I can.
