intermediate egret

I wonder if the Intermediate Egrets feel inadequate when comparing themselves with their larger cousins LOL. They can look large when their necks are fully extended like this. He was on the same bank as the Magpie Geese, with a partially hidden Glossy Egret, so that patch of greenery seemed...

Back at the lake on the top side now and a handsome Intermediate Egret came into view paddling in the lilies - white ones to match his plumage!

It look like he's checking out his property, doesn't it.

.... but at the upper end. Bigger than little but smaller than great. Ken pointed out an Intermediate Egret on the far side of one of the lakes. I still struggled with identifying these with certainty right to the end of my trip. He told me the features to look for - rounder head and shorter...

Intermediate Egret

A bit cluttered with all the branches but I liked the way it shows the toes off.

Shot almost 7 years ago at Sewree Creek in Mumbai.

Note the orange /red bill and green facial skin.

I think this is what it is.

I was rather chuffed to see I got two different species of Egret in this shot - nice comparison.
