  1. Ruddy Duck (female)

    Ruddy Duck (female)

Taken at the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline, Arrowhead Marsh (Oakland, CA, USA). If we're being honest, Ruddy Duck females are not high on my beauty contest winners. But they are part of nature, and thus have their own charm, and are just as beautiful to photograph as much...
  2. Ruddy Duck

    Ruddy Duck

Taken at the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline (Oakland, CA, USA) at about 25m. I think I've seen a Ruddy one other time, but also at a fair distance away. We may be seeing them more often than that but mistaking them for grebes with the naked eye at these kinds of distances.

Taken at the Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline at about 60m. Photo taken with the 1.6x digital teledapter active, through a chain-link fence, and cleaned-up using Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Detail. I'm quite surprised between the teledapter and the distance the photo came out as well as it did. I...

Taken at the Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline at about 60m. Photo taken with the 2x digital teledapter active, through a chain-link fence, and cleaned-up using Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Detail. Thought this was an interesting photo catching the nictitating membrane.

    Red-Tailed Hawk

Taken at the Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area (Lake Boris).
  6. Red-Tailed Hawk

    Red-Tailed Hawk

Taken at the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline at about 75m. This hawk was being harassed by three crows, and it was quite the aerial fight. My girlfriend and I tried desperately to keep-up and get photos, but they were really moving and at quite a distance. This was my best capture.
