Just out of shot were two House Sparrows, that this young blackie took exception to.
You can see the result, not sure how I managed to capture the action really, it was pretty quick.
TTTW
Not sure, but don't think the new feathers coming through are black enough to be a young boy, so guessing this is a young lady.
She's looking a bit unsure of herself, I think.

Back home and still young Blackbirds around, this one seems to have a fluffy scarf LOL
Around this time I hadn't seen much in the way of Blackbirds from my window in the feeding area, but going out the front door of our block one afternoon, there were about 5 young ones being watched over by a...
.... a younger one than the last one I showed you.
Either the adults had been very busy producing another clutch, or there's two pairs breeding here. This picture was taken just 5 days after the other youngster (comparison image...
Phewwwh!!!! Back at last!!! Sorry my router broke and I had to wait for a new one to be delivered. It arrived just this afternoon!
I'm now busy trying to catch up of course but thought I'd let you know by uploading this young guy!
I'll try and catch up with your pictures shortly.
Many thanks...
I didn't manage to get a 'normal' pose from this guy, as he spent the whole time preening! He obviously has a lot of work to do!
Only two of the images showed his head!
TTTW
I can't now remember if this was the bairn of the adult I showed you yesterday, as it was taken the next day and I didn't see him being fed.
Isn't he growing well though.
Seems this young Blackbird hasn't yet learned to conform!
It does rather look like he's being cared for by the House Sparrows, doesn't it.
TTTW on a rather damp day.
..... or Bliss
I really shouldn't make fun of these juvies, but they do look so funny when they're soaking up the rays of the sun like this.
Is it me, I never seem to see the adults doing it?
TTTW
Shortly after I got home in May I found a well grown young Blackbird. There was obviously some younger ones somewhere though, as an adult male was also gathering a beakful of feed at the same time.
Had to lean out of the window to get this one, as it's right under my window!
Think it's a...
another regular visitor but taken with my olympus.i decided to go out and sit before i went to work usually i take my garden images threw the window and it surprised me just how many birds still appeared with me sat in the middle of my small garden although i had to move very slowly to take...
Son of Mr Spotty probably, though this one has no white feathers at all - in fact none of the current crop of blackies have any.
I think this one is now in full adult plumage as I'm not currently seeing any that look like juveniles.
One of them made a very brief visit to my window feeder the...
It was also nice to see a Blackbird there, this was the only one picked out in the trees and shrubs around the hide area.
This youngster didn't hang around though - two quick snaps and gone!
.... but not today it's.... horrid weather this morning!!
A cute little juvenile Blackie enjoying the autumn sun.
About the only thing I like about Win8 is that it has a basic picture editor installed. This picture was rather over-exposed and with just a couple of clicks I got a bit of an...
I suppose his mum thinks he's still lovely LOL.
This must surely be the very worst stage of their moult.
Early upload today, as I'm off to the dentist.... so I'll catch up with you all later on.
Sadly I heard today that our friend Jan van den Broeck passed away recently. We'd become good internet friends over the years and I had known for some time that he was very ill. He will be very missed on here by you all, I'm sure.
There is a thread in the Community Notice Board, if you want to...
One of my lovely young blackies taken in August. Cute, isn't he!!
Well we found some thrushes yesterday, but the winter finches and geese were nowhere to be seen (at least on the run we did).
TTTW
How many shades of brown are there? Must be most of them in this picture I'd think LOL.
I'm starting to see some Blackies with black beaks this last week... so some of the youngsters have got to the 'almost adult' stage... think that's called first winter. But this picture was taken at the...
