    Spider!

Didn't quite get it focused on the kinglet, but I like this shot anyway. Tiny bird with its tinier prey.
  2. Interesting Angle

    Interesting Angle

Kinglets don't make it easy to get a good, flattering photo of them. Especially not while actively foraging between branches. This is the only properly focused photo I got of this one.

    Golden-crowned Kinglet

You may be wondering how I got so close to the bird. It bumped into a window and was partly stunned. It allowed me to walk right up to it!

Taken near the Sundial Bridge (Redding, CA, USA). Another new one for us. We were seeing these everywhere but they rarely sit still. As it was I had to rescue this one with Photoshop to even get a decent one to show!

    Ruby-crowned Kinglet

I finally got one of these little guys to sit still long enough to get a pretty good portrait.

These guys are pretty hard to catch setting still, and I'm still trying to get a shot of one with that "Ruby Crown" shining. I have seen that ruby flash many times, but never when I was pointing a camera at one : )

    Ruby-crowned Kinglet

Surely not my best photograph, but probably my best effort because these guys WILL NOT sit still. This little fellow eluded my lens for 2 seasons and from time to time, I would get a glimpse of that little flash of red on top of his head while looking for other birds, and for the longest time...

    Ruby-crowned Kinglet

After many, many fuzzy photos, I finally got a good, crisp, up-close shot of this very active and tiny bird; but it was worth all the effort!

Well this is a fun bird to photograph! I think it over did it with the caffeine that day. I almost focus on the little bugger and Puff it's gone. Makes you half crazy. Of course ... we are birders and photographers.
