I mentioned in my last post that there weren't many birds close in .... this was an example!!! Way over the far side of the loch was this fine group of Whoopers.
They'd soon be leaving our shores for their breeding grounds.
On the way down to the East Hide, I heard another Wrent singing.
Then saw a flicker of movement in the undergrowth... follow click.... bare branch... follow click.... follow click....and on it went!!!
This was the only vaguely well focused picture with the whole bird visible - most of the...
This delightful Red Squirrel entertained us for a while with his antics.
He (or another I suppose) returned later to different part of the feeding station, but unfortunately there was some blue wire (or something) hanging down right between me and his head!!
Looking at this picture you might ask why I didn't take it earlier when he was in the lit patch behind him.... well he wasn't in it, he emerged from behind a tree on his right!!
It doesn't always work out right, does it LOL
..... or We said No!
I had a series of these images with the interloper trying to get in - reduced it to these two.
He'd actually tried both sides, but the one on the right, wasn't so good.
Competition for the busy feeders at Kinnordy.
Sorry, something went wrong with the previous uploads...
..... or Can I Join you?

Sorry - something went wrong with the previous uploads and kept showing the same picture - trying again
One of the speciality birds at Kinnordy, they're missing from Loch of the Lowes.
A shame the poor light didn't allow their beautiful chestnut colours to show though.
My first attempt at cropping this picture .... I cut out 1 birds!!! I'd just not seen them LOL
Another image under the darkness of the tree cover at the Kinnordy feeding station.
One of my favourite woodland birds. I always get a thrill when I spot them.
Sadly these too, suffered from the poor light under the trees (it was very cloudy that day). I took over 20 pictures and only about 3 of them showed both the heads LOL This was the best.
At last the first Wren picture of the year!! Another picture suffering from the lack of light under the trees though.
It wasn't the first sighting of one, but the other attempts ended headless, tailless or an empty perch!
This one climbed up the tree and kindly gave me a moment in a slightly...
Fortunately I got this one in a slightly better lit area as he moved about, as the earlier pictures were ummmm well rubbish!!
They're always lovely to see, aren't they.
..... sharing!
Couldn't resist showing you this one of the two tits sharing a feeder.
Sorry for the poor quality - not good light and taken under the trees.
From the hide we moved along to see the activity at the feeders.
Very busy as usual!
First up was a Great Tit enjoying the fat balls.
It's unfortunate the light wasn't too good that day, and made worse by being under the trees - but heck; I hardly ever see these guys at home!
This is the same species as what our friends on the other side of the Pond call Common Merganser! They are different subspecies though.
He was way over the far side of the loch and the only one I saw that day, so rather surprised not to see a lady or two in tow.
I hope you've all enjoyed the...
Wigeon is a species I hardly ever manage to get pictures of, at least not close-ups at Kinnordy.
And the male was very bashful, not one decent picture of his face in the series.
He did have two ladies present though, including a Mallard, so maybe he was keeping his eye on them LOL.
This was...
..... or not?!
The Black-headed Gull colony has been all but wiped out at Kinnordy by the otters, crows etc. So last year the RSPB made a raft to try and encourage them to use it to lay their eggs. Sadly there were no takers.
They've slightly re-positioned it this Spring..... and put a couple...
Oystercatchers and Lapwings had returned in good numbers and taken up residence on the bog bean islands; fascinating how they all face the one direction, isn't it.
I think this is the first time I've noticed such a difference in size between these guys, with the one at the back really looking like a butch male!!
A few weeks ago we paid an early spring visit to Kinnordy to see what was going on I usually stop at the west end first to scan around and am...
..... I was focused... honest!
Gosh I've had this one in the folder waiting to be published since this time last year LOL.
I'm not too sure why he decided to have a shake.
From memory a Song Thrush;)
