The Coot gave me a bit more action as he passed.
Not sure if he's calling or got something in his mouth, but the shot before didn't show him feeding, and the shot after his mouth was shut again.
After checking out the western marshy end, I moved on to the Gullery Hide. Lots more Greylag there too. However this Moorhen was swimming past as I walked in so had moved a bit before I got the window open etc.
I don't often see these in the wee bay there.
This Pheasant wandered through and I was half-way through filming him when I noticed the broken tail feather.... but then it was difficult to get him in the right pose to show it properly.
This was the best I ended with!! Guess it's dropped out by now LOL
.... well the leaf litter.
As I said, there weren't too many birds around the feeders that day, just a couple more to come tormorrow.
Sadly the police have started a murder enquiry. You just don't expect that sort of thing there and he lived miles away. Not nice.
.... don't you think!!!
I'd moved on to the feeder area, which wasn't really as busy as I'd hope. However, was quite pleased to see this guy, as I don't (or very rarely) get them at home.
Nice isn't he, don't you think?
.... well that's how I often think of Greylags LOL.
Though he kindly came and swam right in front of the hide.
Sadly the reserve is closed just now, as the body of a man was found there yesterday. I don't know the circumstances, but the police are investigating. These incidents are always very...
This raft was installed in the hope that Black-headed Gulls would utilise it for nesting and be safe from the pesky Otters who have been devastating the for the last 10 years.
From thousands of fledglings, we've been lucky to have one hatch!!!
Sadly they've not made use of the raft and for...
There were lots of birds out on the bog bean island and more around the water etc.
Who wants a go at sorting them out then?
Update:
On the bogbean are mostly Oystercatchers, with a sprinkling of Lapwings. A Mute Swan is trying to hide in the reeds, with Teal swimming.
..... no of course not, but the 1st April saw me heading to Kinnordy - it was a beautiful day and I just had to go out.
This handsome Coot sailed across the bay in front of the hide just as I was walking in, and I managed to open the window quietly enough not to scare him off.
.... well he's in the leaf litter and had picked up a twig from it LOL
However he did drop it in a later picture of the set, so no nest building (February would be a tad early up here).
This was the only Chaffinch I saw that day, though I did hear some in the trees.
..... yep, that was me chased them out .... ooops!
After that session at the feeders, thought I'd wander a bit further along the loch as I'd not done that for a long time, passing the East Hide, I managed to get down to the water's edge and out popped these two - I'd no idea they were there of...
... he's got to get in to every picture, doesn't he LOL.
This was about the only, in focus, picture I got of a Coal Tit that day. The rest are only suitable for SF!!
Speedy guys, aren't they.
... well sort of. The Blue Tit was a bit distant in the brush. There's a few fallen trees and branches in the new feeder area.
But I thought he looked lovely sitting on the moss-covered trunk.
.... as I don't often see them foraging around the feeders.
He posed well there too, didn't he.
And I see there's another bluey determined to get in on the shot too LOL
.... after beating up the Great Tit in yesterday's picture;)
The light was rather tricky under the trees, shooting from shadow, through light, sometimes into shadow and sometimes, like this one into sun; not sure my camera knew what to do.... let alone me!
We have an egg at Loch of the Lowes!
That was my very first thought on opening this picture... looks like the Long-tailed Tit had given the Great Tit a knock-out blow before fleeing.. and there's the Blue Tit desperately trying to keep out of trouble.
Can't remember getting these three in a frame before either.
In case you didn't believe me... this was this is what the water was like right outside the hide.
Now if I'd been Ove, I'd have been able to give a more imaginative title.;)
The Great Tit obviously decided the Blue Tit was taking too long at the feeder and decided to take her place on the other side.
It almost seems that they can't see each other, doesn't it LOL.
I moved down to see what what happening at the feeding station. I was a bit surprised to see that it had all been moved, due to the dangerous condition of some of the trees in the original site.
A Great Tit patiently waiting her turn while the Blue Tit tucks in. I didn't even know she was in...
My favourite swans these Whoopers, so pretty with their lovely yellow bills.
There was a family of them over the far side, by the reed bed, not far from where the Bittern was hanging out.
I'm having laptop issues this morning, so hopefully I'll get this uploaded today, then I'll have to try...
