Taken on a trip to Chile. From top to bottom and this was at Torres del Paine

Lapwing

Something spooked this group of Lapwing - they flew around for a minute or two before settling back on the bog bean. Never saw what it was that scared them though. Even though they were a bit distant, I was quite pleased to get such recognisable birds in the frame.

Sorry, cant seem to get enough of these birds.

Great looking birds, but they also so effective at blending in. Without cropping the image and adjusting the contrast, I found it difficult to make out the beak and the legs clearly.

Thought it looked graceful though we cant see the face.

Not sure which one won in the end. Both continued to stick around. Sad about the wire in the foreground.

The males are getting busy now. Quite a few squabbles.

Loads of Lapwings flying around at Vane Farm today.

Lapwing - Have been out with Mr Mali Halls all day. The trouble is he always brings bad weather. We had a great day though with plenty to see. This shot was taken at ISO 5000 as the light was so bad. I would estimate there was around 10,000 of these there.

Washing the worm - This Lapwing did not like dirty worms. He wandered down to the water to wash them before eating them.

The Lapwing stayed put along the banks of the water stream for a while and then flew away to the other side to join 2 of its kind :)

This one is from a week ago, when the sun was out, it's been dismal since.
