One from the past. I like the contrast between the whites of the bird and the green water.

Thanks to all who commented on yesterday's LBBG. (Special thanks to Dr JP Menon, who tactfully confirmed my suspicions that it was somewhat overexposed). Here's another shot of the same bird, better exposed I hope. Thank you for your comments on my pictures, stay safe and well, and good...

    Lesser Black-backed Gull

A large gull flew towards the block this morning, and I fired off several shots before it passed over the roof. Only afterwards did it turn out to be not the usual Herring Gull, but LBBG (which I've only photographed with a DSLR once before). The fully adult white-headed birds can look very...

Another shot, possibly of the same LBBG. The previous shot was a better composition, but I like the dangly feet on this one.

The gulls with the most impactful presence were, of course, the Greater Black-backs. They joined us as we got further out to sea, and they could be quite bold about harassing the eagles and trying to steal their fish. But first let's just meat the rest of the gull "chorus". All four of...

    Rock bound

A beautiful April day and I did my first coach trip! We went to the touristy town of Pitlochry, with the main stop being at the Faskally dam. and hydro-electric plant. There's a fish ladder there, though unfortunately we couldn't get in to see the big viewing chambers, for H&S reasons; you...

LOL this was the best head positions of the half dozen or so shots I took!! I've no doubt about the ID of these guys, clearly Lessers, comfortably perched on top of a rock keeping their feet dry from the receding tide. A tad bit easier to photograph them!!

Another dancer! This shed roof is quite steep and slippery, so many of the larger birds use their wings to help them get up, and sometimes I see them just sliding down it too..... great fun. TTTW
