    One eyed lesser redpoll - lifer. It's not a lifer cos it's only got one eye but because I've never captured a redpoll before. I think that it has a tick just to the left below the beak. It seemed healthy enough.

    Given the geography and the markings, I'd say this was the Lesser rather than Mealy Redpoll. A small flock were taking seeds along the edge of the river during a bright(!) interlude last week.

    Well for me at least! A breeding group of Lesser Redpolls and thier juveniles. This was a very tame juvenile.

    Shame the light was so tricky that afternoon, as it meant I had to open the lens wide to get any sort of shutter speed (without massive ISO levels). Still, seems to work as an image, and was pleased to catch up with some at last this winter.

    The male Redpoll, didn't manage a photo on a natural perch but I think its such a beautiful bird.
