Linnets are on the RSPB Red List ("There has been a decline of over 50% since 1970 although the decrease has slowed in recent years" RSPB Handbook of British Birds) - so it was nice to find quite a few of them in the fields this morning
Definitely not like me to be up early on a Saturday morning but it proved to be worth it - lots of bird activity in the fields around my house in S. Gloucestershire - then at about 10:30 it all went very quiet.
I love these and have yet to nail one as good as I would like, but I thought I would add this to my gallery as it is my best attempt yet at a Linnet.
:t:
Came across this obliging juvenile Linnet this evening in some lovely light.Struggled a bit to get a clear shot through the foliage and I have had to do some cloning to get rid of some out of focus rubbish.Pleased with this though as its my first decent pic of the species.
linnet taken just over the garden fence in the bramble bushes it there in the morning and again at night for about ten minutes then vanishes till the following day.
