Taken 1986 in Hwange NP, Zimbabwe.
We travelled on to a camp just outside the Kruger NP, SA where I had a very close encounter (3 ft) with a female Lion.
I had no need of a laxative that morning.
Who could resist a lion cub? I had some outstanding photographic opportunities with cubs from different prides, so there will be a lot more photos of this kind to follow.
We were lucky enough to find two pairs of mating lions on the same day.
One of the pairs was in grass high enough that it kept getting in the way, but these two were more accommodating.
Lions were doing very well in the Masai Mara when I was there in August. There were numerous prides I saw (I think at least five) while I was there. There lots of cubs of varying ages as well (photos to come).

Another Black and White picture, this time from my last trip to Kenya. This is an old Masai Lion (Panthera leo nubica) at Maasai Mara, a wonderful world-wide known region for it wildlife. I'm working with Whitehawk and our guide Shiv to offer a magnificent photography tour there.
