I spent my time at the Reservoirs Wednesday looking for good/interesting lighting, as it was Sunny for a change. Here's another Little Grebe pic, as I don't catch these on the surface often, other birds to follow|=)|
They don't usually let you get this close before they scoot off.
Taken with my old 20D as my 7D has developed a fault and has had to be sent for repair.
I love the scientific name of the Dabchick which is latinised Greek and roughly translates as the "fast diver with the red neck".
Us Rednecks gotta stick together!
Had a great day at Rye Harbour with BF's Mick Harris yesterday. A totally nice bloke, thanks for your company Mick. Still not checked out me pics, but will be having a look later.
A pair of Coot are nest building close to an already established Little Grebe nest, both right in front of the hide. Whenever the dabchicks leave the nest they have to dash by the Coots which always chase after them.
A bit noisy in places, and a bit of blur, but I seldom get close to these at the Reservoirs. I managed to get one shot through some bushes before it saw me and dived. My second shot would've been better|=)|
