This is one of just a handful of shots I managed to get whilst on a 4 month campaign, following 3 local breeding pairs of Long-eared Owls last summer.
The birds would hunt from early evening onwards whilst feeding their young and, at times, would fly very close :)
A great day out with Chris (G6UXU) and Brian over at Marton Mere near Blackpool. Went in the hope of finding the Long-eared Owls with at least two on the Reserve, and it wasn't long before we came across this one tucked away in the scrub. Well spotted Chris.
Damn branches. Okay, if it's not a good photo call it "art" - don't you LOVE the way his eyes peek from behind the branches? Anyway, photoed this bird right on the Pacific Coast which is a real rare sighting for us.
