.... he seems to be trying to make sure no-one is going to come in and chase him off while he's eating, doesn't he.
Or perhaps he just likes looking at the scenery!
TTTW
.... what to eat. The roof is just covered LOL
In February they're still in winter dress, not quite so colourful as they look now.
I went to Loch of the Lowes yesterday and some of the males looked stunning.

More January snow pictures - don't think I've shown you a Chaffinch for a bit.
I rather like how the snow had stuck to his bill LOL.

We've had light snow showers this morning, but it's not come to much and hardly anything has stayed so far. They're forecasting more yet, of course. I'll...
That was a very cold morning, but how pretty it looks.
It's snowing again here this morning, but pretty wet stuff, so not sure if it will lie. I've heard that up the glen, a few miles from here, there's about 7 in lying snow. Rather glad I don't live up there any more LOL.

I tried...
Mr Chaffie seems to be enjoying the menu that day.
Thought it was rather funny that the angle of this picture makes the peanuts look almost as big as he is LOL.
TTTW
This Chaffinch doesn't seem to be able to make up his mind what to choose from the offerings LOL
The staff at Loch of the Lowes sure look after their feeders and keep them well stocked!!
TTTW
Back home and this handsome male Chaffinch came in to feed.
Their fresh spring colours look so pretty, don't they.
Lovely birds to look at, even if they are messy eaters LOL
TTTW
I don't think he could've crammed much more in there LOL.
It's really rather funny with that feeder.... sometimes I need to re-fill it every few days; other times it's more than a week!

September was a month when we had a spell of lovely weather.
I'd decided that, on the whole Sports Mode was working well, especially in combination with burst, or continuous shooting. Though I need to be quite strict about not holding the button down for too long at a time... even then there's...
Followed this guy for a few minutes, until I got a pose I liked.
This was taken around the same time as the white-tailed male was visiting. The ID forumers reckon it was just normal moult, but I've never seen it before.

I chased this guy around for a few days, got loads of profile shots, but they didn't show his tail LOL.
He doesn't seem to be around just now. Whether he's gone south for the winter and I'm now seeing birds from further north and the continent, I'm not sure. I'll only know if he comes back in...
Told you it was to be a 'finchy' day, didn't I.
In the same area, I got this male Chaffinch and a female Bullfinch who I'm sure is curtseying to the chaffie.
Sorry if the other picture seemed to be a bit out of focus, maybe I cropped it too much. I'll learn!
