I played his call (different from his song) and he immediately flew down from the treetops where he was singing his song and landed on this log within 20 feet of me.
Earlier in the day yesterday I saw a beautiful Red-headed Woodpecker and came home to find this sapsucker drumming in one of my trees. I was able to distinguish its distinctive drum before I saw it: http://www.xeno-canto.org/175237
Sam is worked up when he sees a mature Bald Eagle violating his airspace (Emma, his mate, is not far away incubating her eggs); he gave the Eagle a 100 yard head-start just to make it fair, then proceded to give the eagle a spanking!
I've not been out for weeks, so it's garden birds or nothing.
Through the double glazing, twigs in the way, but he's hunting, so in the open would be counter-productive... and yes, it's Fred ;) (He's still not away at his breeding territory, maybe he'll go later)

Camera...
Dear (birding) friends, my holidays are near up and I'm quite busy. So I won't be able to write as many comments on all the beautiful photos as I would love to. But I can always take some time to have a look at them and enjoy them. And I would like to go on posting photos as often as possible...
He's usually off to his breeding territory by now, and I don't see him for months... not sure what's happened this year, but he could still go later. Through the double glazing as usual.
