Mum Mallard brought her wee ones right past the hide.... had to stand up and lean out a bit to get them as they pass right below the window.
Can only see three in this picture, but I think there were 4 altogether.
Darlings, aren't they!!
LOL I must go to SpecSavers.... Ove and Alex...
These ducklings are looking even cuter on my new computer screen than on the old one. In that regard, this new laptop is an improvement. But W10 is taking some getting used to and the MS image processing program isn't popping up as before. Also the machine doesn't have an SD card slot, so I'll...
Sorry these will appear in the wrong order. I was trying for a count-up. Tomorrow I'll skip all the way to seven. Of course the different numbers are mostly a matter of attrition and predation, but if not for those then we'd be drowning in ducks.
Does this fit the bill then LOL
Spotted this brood all huddled together under the trees, obviously exhausted after the day's exercise.
They were a bit distant, so a heavy crop, sorry.
There were Mallard ducklings there as well, saw this little lot swimming through the reeds beside the hide.
I could have cropped out the one on the left, but rather liked this image, so left him in place.
Hope you approve of that decision.
It was so windy we decided to walk along the track below the bank where there's a fresh water ditch. We were still heading into the wind, but a tiny bit sheltered down there.
We found a Mallard and two ducklings, one of them looks so much older than the other.
Stupidly, I've just realised that...
This pond is sometimes a productive spot to bird. When I got there this time, it was totally covered in water lilies There were mallard ducklings out there, but I only got glimpses of them now and then when a head popped up between the lily pads.
Three of the nine ducklings. When they swam close I tried desperately to frame some close-ups, but they were darting here and there and it was hard to get a set neatly framed. This shot turned out quite nice, and one other of just two ducklings. Not great compositions, but the ducklings are so...
Eight of the nine in this clutch of mallard ducklings. The ninth was outside the ring, swimming alongside their Mum. Loads of pictures of this family, so this won't be the last you see of them.
as before power cut and wanted to share these images for some saturday fun.their is actually three male mallards here and one not so happy female underneath, she managed to fly away eventually with ruffled feathers and pruned herself nearby as the males carried on for a few seconds jumping on...
i apologise for another duckling photo but had non here last year and these are so special.our mute swans think their the boss here and dive in for the food pushing all to the side and it is so magical to see this female mallard stand up to them protecting her babies and we have a feeding...

At Minsmere a few weeks ago six Mallard ducklings provided superb entertainment as they were catching flies from the air. They were almost running across the surface and jumping up to snap at them. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough to catch them jumping so this is really just a reminder for...
Not showing this image for its good photo details, but has anyone else seen a black Mallard duckling?.I only had a fixed 400 lens with me ,when these little guys arrived with their Mum.I just left the little striped duckling to compare with the all black one.Wonder how this little one will show...
