Every spring we have a pair of mallards that have landed on our roof and expect to be fed. We think they do this because our roof is blue and we're close to the lake. This year is a bit different. Now this female jumps down into one of the larger feeder boxes on our railing (two stories up)...
A fellow birder told me, "I'll never photograph another Mallard", and I understood. "Common" birds aren't quite good enough for a guy like me. It turns out that any bird can be beautiful in the right setting.

Rather a distant view of these two, but I did like the colours both on his head and in the water too.
Wasn't sure how to present this, tried a couple of different crops - and hope you think this one has worked.
This cute little duckling was not really on it's own but surrounded by its brothers and sisters (and mum) and only for a fleeting moment I could frame it on its own on this beautiful but crisp morning.
The last of the birds from that day at Loch of the Lowes. This Mallard came in to clean up the spills on the ground.
The light was really beginning to go by this time.

.... or Bliss
Well, I think that's what she's saying LOL. Whatever, she appears to be really enjoying the water.
Those birds really gave me some great photo ops that day, well, when I could get the right angle on them with the low bright sun.
Taken yesterday using my phone camera on the River Freshney in Grimsby.
No Mute Swans were found and a couple of people also said they must have flown off
