I saw this duck with a large group of mallards and a couple of American Black Ducks. The duck I am having trouble identifying is the black one with the white breast/chest. Is it some sort of hybrid/sub species?
This photo was taken at Mill Pond park in Richmondhill in June 2013 approximately. It's near the hospital at Major Mackenzie drive and Bathurst. There are some trails beehind the hospital as well!
It struck me that Aug 11 was pretty late for this Mallard to have a clutch of newly hatched ducklings. Perhaps they're her second clutch for the season? Or the result of a renesting after losing her first nest or clutch?

Canada Geese, Shelducks And Plenty More, All Heading To The Axe Estuary Over !!! And These Mallards !! Hope You Like Our Image !!
Grey Duck (endemic to NZ and Australia) chases off the whole Mallard gang. Or at least we can pretend that's the story here. Unfortunately, although I think the Grey Ducks are slightly bigger on average, they are losing territory to introduced ducks (mostly Mallards) and their population is in...

And yesterday, suddenly, there were far fewer Mallards at Gseparken. The Goldeneyes were also mostly gone. Earlier last week there were 50 Mallards there. Also 6 Goldeneye courting just off shore. Now I guess they've all paired off and flown elsewhere to nest.
I walked along the canal to the Govilon Moorings, where there's a cafe and things for boat people, but not on my side!!
A group of 5 Mallard came by, only 3 in this shot though, as I cropped it quite heavily to make it a 'bird' picture;)
