  1. Wet Noisy miner at a bath

Wet Noisy miner at a bath

Noisy miners are bold and adaptable native birds in Sydney's urbanized environment. This miner chose a dog water bowl at a park to take a bath!
  2. Nearly breakfast time

    Nearly breakfast time

I was nearly back and the last species I saw was a Noisy Miner pondering his breakfast choices as I went in to select my own. That was a rather nice wander though. Even the ferry was interesting as it only took it minutes to make the crossing before coming back for another load.

    A noisy entrance

It was then off back to the folk festival again, and a Noisy Miner showed us the way in. My first sighting of one in South Australia.
  6. Taking advantage

    Taking advantage

This Noisy Miner looked so cute with the clump of feathers on his nape, Hans couldn't resist throwing him something to eat LOL
  7. Stealth approach

    Stealth approach

After we left the waterfall, we stopped and started in various areas to explore. At one of these car parks there was a Noisy Miner wandering across the grass, I crept up behind him to get this picture.
  8. How do I do t his

How do I do t his

Hans succumbed to the pleading and threw some crumbs out for the birds. A Noisy Miner came over to investigate, seems he's not too sure how to pick them up LOL Saturday Fun
  9. Ruffed

    Ruffed

A Noisy Miner was around the tables hoping for some scraps. Quite an oddity with the bunch of feathers on his neck.
  10. I want lunch!!

    I want lunch!!

There were a couple of fledgling Noisy Miners in the garden too. I think this one is hungry! Struggling to find any 'funny' pictures for Saturday Fun at the moment. But thought this just about filled the bill.
  11. Not laughing

    Not laughing

He couldn't even raise a smile, as he had his mouth full and, of course, there was the danger of the Noisy Miners (one in front and another out of shot) pinching it off him if he dropped it LOL.
  12. Tossing it

    Tossing it

Sorry folks... had a rather serious hiccup with my laptop the other day. Took it to the shop. he thought he'd fixed it, but when I went to collect it and he turned it on to show me what he'd done.... back it came with the same fault!! So he worked on it on his weekend off and returned it to me a...

    Keeping quiet

.... so on my way back towards the hotel for breakfast I spotted this Noisy Miner in a tree. It seems ages since I'd last seen one too, but still managed to recognise him all on my own LOL. Mmmm.... breakfast was good. No wonder I put on so much weight while I was away!
  15. Following me?

    Following me?

We then headed off back to the folk festival at Willunga. As we got out of the car Peter spotted two Straw-necked Ibis flying over, but I made a bit of a mess of that picture, but a few yards into the grounds in the trees lining the path was a Noisy Miner. Obviously he'd followed me down from...
  16. Fancy

    Fancy

There was a Noisy Miner in the campsite with a very fancy hairdo, with a great bunch of nuchal feathers. I've never seen this happen on any other bird.
  17. Being quiet

    Being quiet

I've got a bit lost as to where this was, we'd left the waterfall carpark and were heading for the Canyon Lookout, en route we called into another car parking area. This Noisy Miner was wandering around the central grassy area.
  18. One way to keep 'em quiet

One way to keep 'em quiet

.... throw them some crumbs! Noisy Miner was another species cleaning up round the picnic area.
  19. Another quiet/noisy one

    Another quiet/noisy one

A Noisy Miner come down to fill his face, so that kept him quiet too LOL Now wondering why they got called 'noisy'?
  20. A new setting

    A new setting

I came out onto the verandah that afternoon and found Ken examining my camera and playing about with some settings! He got me to experiment with the camera set on EXR (which I'd never used as I hadn't understood what it was)! Here was my first picture on that setting.... ummm.... silly me...
  21. Life can be so tiring for a bairn

Life can be so tiring for a bairn

The next day the young miner had obviously had a very hard night and looks as if he is well and truly clapped out after his morning exercise.
  22. A fluffy one

    A fluffy one

Also waiting to greet us were a couple of Noisy Miner fledglings. This one having a groom, and he seems to have an awful lot to do yet. He'd obviously just had a bath as well.
  23. Let me eat in peace please!

Let me eat in peace please!

The Kookaburra was initially on the ground but flew up into this tree. I didn't notice the Noisy Miners at first, they blended in so well.
  24. High in the canopy

    High in the canopy

.... but then so was I LOL. For once I was level with the treetops on that path. And at last saw some birds in there, a pair of Noisy Miners, they didn't give me the best of views though, did they!
  25. Rowdy

    Rowdy

Well..... just returned from the trip of a Lifetime, two wonderful months in Australia, which I'll try my best to talk you through but excuse any errors, especially in these first days recovering from jet lag!! Ken, and his lovely wife Judy met me at Brisbane Airport and looked after me for the...
