The tiniest mantis I've ever seen and it is right at my home backyard.
It is called Asian Ant Mantis (Odontomantis planiceps). It is documented to be between 1.4cm - 2cm but this one I photographed looks like 1cm or less. 🤔 Perhaps next time I will try to shoot with a ruler 🙂

I don't know the species name, but this little creature, less than an inch long, is an adult praying mantis. Not only tiny, but beautifully camouflaged. They are common around here, but I seldom spot them. Everything about this little one is designed to confuse they eye, including its own eye.

I would appreciate anyone who can tell me which species of mantis this is. He was in residence for a week in this Russelia equisetiformis or Firecracker plant.
