This is one of my favorites so far. From what I can see, the conditions were great for once. Plus, the bird "somewhat" cooperated. My wife, kids, and I went to the marsh, had a lunch, and then went our separate ways. Our college student, foster son and middle of 5, walked around...

This Merganser was enjoying my dock on June 5th, 2018. I've mentioned beefore my cottage is in Orillia, Ontario, Canada on Shannon Bay, off of Lake Simcoe.

Taken near the Sundial Bridge (Redding, CA, USA). Another first for us while on vacation.

This gal was in a pond at the San Pablo Commons with the male I posted earlier.

I took this photo near the Mayo Clinic (San Pablo Commons). It's a pretty wild area just West of the Intracoastal Waterway. I always take a camera when we visit the Mayo because you just never know what you will see. This was my first chance to get shots of the Hooded Merganser.

Three mergansers were moving from place to place...I was lucky enough to get this photo of them taking off

These guys are always hanging where the water is moving at the reserve.

How lucky was I to catch all 3 mergansers taking off together!

These mergansers were dancing around for quite a while showing off their best moves. It was fun to watch their mating ritual.

This was a first for me. I'm sure these red breasted mergansers have been at the reserve before, but yesterday was the first time I've ever spotted them!. They sure are unique looking!!
