A bird that I've struggled to get a decent image of, hope this does it justice?

Just discovered this one and liked the setting. Taken in Bushey Park near Hampton Court Palace.

... or just being stubborn. A juvie. For some reason the reed reminds me of spring onion ... think I spent way too much time in the kitchen last night and this morning, I spot veg everywhere

This was the only shot of the day for me, as Jamie has alresdy said the weather was against us in Norfolk today and the birds just didn't show. I'm always amazed at the size of their feet.

I seem to have run out of pictures. Here are two very recent ones. All the Moorhens seem to have young with them still.

Well Folks, I wont be able to spend much time on BF over the next few days, as we are off to London shortly. Hazel's youngest son gets married tomorrow, so we will be spending a few days in the capital. Dont suppose I will get a chance to fit any birding in either, much to my annoyance...

Three different birds today, all from Slimbridge. (No surprises there then)

Walking along the canal toe path today, I saw this moorhen with it's head down the throat of a dead Bream, she was ripping out the guts, and feeding it to her very small chicks. It must have smelt rotten.

Mute Swan, Greylag, Canada Goose, Shelduck, Mallard, Coot, Moorhen, Herring Gull, Pigeon, Wood Pigeon, Rook, Jackdaw (and others) - all likely to be at least semi-tame and posing.

This Moorhen came running past Me yesterday quick grab shot was all i could get hope you like it any comments good or bad always welcome its the only way to improve Thanks for looking Carl.

This Moorhen was carefully stalking through the pond and gobbling up all sorts.

See a family of six young Moorhens on an island in Alexandra Park.

... for me to pass so thay can start attacking the Moorhen again. It looked as if they had already chased of its mate who was waiting a little way off.

Not sure if these Moorhens were being geniuses or stupid in where they chose to build their nest seeing as the area is now being drained.

This Moorhen looked far too heavy for the reed it was perched on, but miraculously it managed to stay there for several minutes.
