Sometimes birds just don't see eye to eye...

A common Moorhen at Gatorland, FL

a pr of Moorhens were trying to have a feed amongst the reeds which a pr of coots took exception too. so on a number of occasions the inevitable happened

It disappeared into the bushes so I only just had time for one shot. I presume it is a late stage juvenile.

This one was resting on the public path. You can see the fence but it's on the public side, not amongst the penned birds.

I don't often do this but here are three Moorhen shots jumping their position in the Gallery queue. The more I see of them, the more I like Moorhens.

They are so tame at Slimbridge they sometimes just sleep in the open.

I suppose the Moorhen is not really black. That's the first impression you get of them from a distance.

Nearly asleep. It did manage to open an eye as I passed. Slightly windswept.

Technically not that good but I loved the pose.

The whole point of taking this was to show the unusual location, on top of a three-metre hedge. Perhaps I have zoomed in a bit too close!
