    Grey Wagtail

On 3 December, I posted a shot of this bird in the same place, on our substation parapet, looking immaculately groomed. A fraction of a second later, it gave itself a good shake, allowing this last one before flying off. Looking at its rear end, is that grey mass poop, on its way to join the...

Another shot of Thursday's bird. The white "calling cards" on the substation parapet suggest the bird may have been visiting for some time, perhaps since October. I've only been checking for a few minutes each day. Thank you for your comments, good birding! John

    Nothing to see here, folks!

After scanning the sea for a while (lots of seabirds out there, but none close enough for photos) we walked through a small park (Mute Swan nesting, so can't post photos of that) and then southwards along a coastal trail to a pair of hides overlooking a tidal marsh. This Grey Wagtail seems to...

Taken yesterday, the second wagtail beside the roadway outside my flat in less than a week. The last one was a Pied: this Grey announced its arrival with a piercing call as I was in my armchair editing bird pics on the laptop. Thank you for your comments, stay safe and well. John

    Wagtail in flight

This Grey Wagtail was in view only briefly: I got this shot just as it flew. It was still partially illuminated by sunlight as it passed in front of deep shade. The next day, on the verge of our access road, it was surprising to see two Grey Wagtails, feeding about three feet apart. Before...
