Mourning dove egg found/ nest destroyed

Association gardeners chopped down all trees in the back of our patio including one with a mourning dove nest. I went looking after I noticed the parents walking and flying around and obviously looking for their nest for a long time. I found one broken egg and one that seems to be in tact. I...

    Blessed Mourning Dove

Good afternoon, I am new to identifying birds. I desire to make my home in Virginia a haven for wild native birds. I am thankful a pair of mourning doves nesting under our balcony.

    Mourning Doves flew away

There were a pair of mourning doves making a nest in my backyard, (really close to my window). When I was doing some exercise, I jumped and the doves got scared and flew away from the nest. However, the nest was empty. Will they come back? Because they were really cute and I liked them.

This is a very common dove, however there are competing Eurasian collared doves where I live. I am happy to get a flight photo, and also unusual missing secondary feathers.

    Baby Mourning Dove Left Nest

Early today one of the baby mourning doves (approximately 5 days old since it hatched) was sitting on one of my window ledges when it got spooked and flew off across the street. The mom and dad weren’t at the nest, so I thought they would go search for the baby when they got back. It’s been...

White-winged Doves (Zenaida asiatica) and a single Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura). This is the very moment the White-winged doves realized there was a mourning dove in their feed tray (lol). The Mourning dove is the one sitting in the left hand corner.

Abandoned Railroad and the Batten Kill River

The Batten Kill River can be deep or shallow in the summer enough for a person to walk around in. The area I walked in was really shallow and then I heard a Belted Kingfisher call and got a few pictures of it on a dead tree branch across the river. That was the first ever time I've seen a Belted...

    Morning Dove

Always have a number of these birds in the yard. They graze through the yard like a bunch of cattle, and are so ubiquitous I don't pay them much attention. However, from time to time they pull off a pretty pose that catches my eye.
