The colouration is very different from my previous posting. Mainly, I suppose, because this bird is in the sun. perhaps also because it is transitioning from juvenile plumage.

A common bird throughout the right habitats in Thailand, the culvert-hide at Phu Suan Sai NP made getting closer to this species than usual very easy. For long periods, a flock of 15-20 of these guys dominated the small pool of water in front of the makeshift hide.
